A trip to Mikuba is something to look forward to. The hill is covered in bright blue and yellow flowers that line the narrow dirt walking paths winding between the forests of acacia trees. Canopies of banana trees are planted alongside coffee, creating a cool environment for the coffee to grow in.
This is Balzac’s second Direct Trade coffee with Burundi-based Long Miles Coffee Project (LMCP), harvested in the spring of 2017 on Mikuba hill at their Heza Washing Station. Ben and Kristy Carlson of LMCP have been partnering with Burundian coffee farmers since 2011, working to produce amazing coffees and care for the well-being of the farmers who grow it.
